Have you been feeling stressed lately? Life can be stressful as we cope with a variety of pressures such as a difficult job, raising children, caring for aged parents, or dealing with a disease. Stress is a natural part of life, but it may be harmful to our health if it lasts too long. Stress eventually causes imbalances in our physical, emotional, and mental health.
Stress causes your body to release hormones. These hormones stimulate your brain, tension your muscles, and raise your heart rate.
These reactions are beneficial in the short term since they can assist you in dealing with stressful circumstances. This is your body’s attempt to defend itself.
Many physical and emotional symptoms can be caused by stress. You may not recognize that stress is causing these symptoms.
Here are some symptoms that you might be stressed about:
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Forgetfulness
- Frequently occurring aches and pains
- Headaches
- Lack of energy or concentration
- Sexual issues
- A jaw or neck stiffness
- Tiredness
- Sleeping problems or sleeping too much
- stomach ache
- Using drinks or drugs to unwind
- Weight gain or loss
The process of stress management can be performed in different ways. We can sometimes opt to eliminate a stressful environment or to remove ourselves from stressful situations.
Unfortunately, it is not always so straightforward. Stress can also be managed with regular exercise or a stress-reduction therapy like Reiki.
Reiki is a gentle touch energy healing ancient Japanese practice that fosters relaxation and lowers stress and anxiety. Reiki practitioners give energy to your body with their hands, increasing the flow and balance of your energy to help heal.
Practitioners focus on specific spots on the body during a reiki session:
the brain, where we store a lot of tension and stress;
the heart, where we store our emotional memories;
the stomach and solar plexus, where we store a lot of tension, stress, and concern; and the lower abdomen.
By directing energy to these areas, we gain awareness of our bodies and emotions, helping us to detect when stress levels are high.
Thus, Reiki is said to create an energy connection between the therapist and the patient, allowing the latter to benefit mentally and physically. This energy transfer can assist the patient manage stress, exhaustion, and discomfort. It also gives the patient a boost of energy.
Reiki is said to transmit universal energy known as ki, or “chi,” according to practitioners. This is the same energy that is used in tai chi.
This energy is said to pervade the body. Although this energy cannot be measured using modern scientific procedures, many people who tune into it may feel it, according to Reiki specialists.
Reiki is said to help with relaxation, the body’s natural healing processes, and emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. However, no research has proven this to be the case.
There is no scientific evidence to support Reiki’s ability to prevent, treat, or cure any disease. Nonetheless, many healthcare practitioners allow their patients to use Reiki as a supplemental therapy to relieve stress and feel better. As a result, it can be used in conjunction with other traditional medicines to treat disorders.
In general, the patient experiences deep relaxation, tranquility, peace, and overall well-being. As the therapist rubs their hands over the body, some people may feel heat, tingling, or pulsations.
Some people may experience an emotional reaction, while others may fall asleep during therapy. During the session, some people do not feel anything in particular. The therapy is risk-free because no physical manipulation, pressure, or massage is used.
